I'm sure with the recent shenanigans happening on Tumblr you folks here on Newgrounds are getting use to the new influx of people migrating here. I hope you don’t mind seeing another blogger coming around here as well.
For a quick introduction, I'm dlamp, or Allen X as I tend to go by on Twitter and Tumblr, either is fine. As far as online activities go, I write editorials/opinion pieces every now and then on topics that catch my interest, occasionally write fanfic once a blue moon, very occasionally write lyrics to video game BGMs, draw and post pictures of my OCs like the one I’m using as my icon and header, and as of recently trying to write my own original story.
It's... going as well as I expected to for an original story, so painstakingly slow.
In terms of what I plan to do on Newgrounds, I... honestly have no clue. Like I said, I’m a part of the Tumblr migration, so I’ll likely be transfer over some of my opinion pieces and long-winded musings after a bit of proofreading and making sure my current opinion on a thing hasn’t changed, along with posting some of the better bits of my artwork if I feel inclined.
That said, I've done some digging on this site and I don't know what I have to offer for it.
From my understanding Newgrounds is a site for amateur artists, animators, musicians, writers, and so on to social and connect with an equal-minded community and get their work out there to either become professionals in their field or gain some form a greater audience as they improve. I'm… none of those things, or at least I don’t believe myself to be.
That’s not to put myself down or to be self-loathing, it’s just that I don’t know if this site is one I’ll fit in compared to Tumblr. I’m not an artist looking to make a living with my craft, nor a musician trying to spread my music to the world, nor an animator hoping to break into a professional field. And for all my writings I'm not interested in turning my opinion pieces or stories into a source of revenue. I'm... a hobbyist at art when it comes to my creative outlets, a guy that likes to write and draw on occasion, and really nothing more. But who knows, that might change as time goes on since I’m dealing with a new audience on this site.
So, I hope you don't mind a hobbyist joining your ranks as I post things here. I’ll start moving a lot of my work over here, so get ready for some 1500+ word pieces about video games, manga, writing, and other fun things of that nature. Believe it or not, this is probably one of my shorter posts when it comes to blogging.
